Samsung Electronics used its Q4 2025 earnings call on January 29 to confirm it plans to launch “next-generation AR glasses” in 2026, positioning the wearable as part of a broader push for “rich, immersive multimodal AI experiences” across new device categories. The company also reiterated that the Galaxy S26 series will arrive in the first half of 2026 with “Agentic AI experiences,” alongside a renewed focus on slimmer, lighter designs.

The roadmap updates came as Samsung reported record quarterly revenue and operating profit for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2025, with results driven largely by strength in memory chips used for AI servers.

Smart glasses move from rumour to roadmap

Samsung mobile executive Seong Cho described a 2026 lineup built around multimodal AI, explicitly naming “next-generation AR glasses” among the form factors Samsung expects to use to deliver those experiences. While Samsung did not share timing, pricing, or specifications, several outlets framed the statement as the company’s first public commitment to a launch window for the product category.

Samsung’s AR-glasses plans build on its Android XR work with Google and Qualcomm, following Samsung’s earlier announcement of a Galaxy XR device and an XR platform strategy that also referenced “AI glasses.”

Galaxy S26 and foldables: AI, lighter designs, and new shapes

Samsung said the Galaxy S26 line, scheduled for the first half of 2026, will introduce next-generation “Agentic AI experiences,” and the company emphasised continued efforts to make devices slimmer and lighter. The company also signalled a stronger foldable lineup with “new form factors,” remarks that align with recent reports about a wider foldable, sometimes dubbed the “Wide Fold.”

Independent reporting has linked the “Wide Fold” concept to a more tablet-like 4:3 aspect ratio aimed at improved media viewing, and framed it as a potential answer to a rumoured foldable iPhone from Apple.

Earnings backdrop: record quarter, AI chips in the lead

Samsung’s outlook for new AI-centric devices arrived alongside record results: Samsung said Q4 2025 revenue reached KRW 93.8 trillion and operating profit hit KRW 20.1 trillion, while also highlighting plans to build on its “comprehensive AI leadership.” In mobile, Samsung said it plans to sustain profitability by expanding flagship sales, even as Q4 smartphone momentum cooled after earlier launch effects tapered.
