Kochi: Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan has reacted to Meta removing a widely shared AI-generated video featuring him, admitting that while the clip brought him personal amusement, it underlines serious legal concerns around artificial intelligence.

This is not the first time the Chief Minister has responded with good humour to the viral deepfake.

“I was stunned when I first saw the video,” Satheesan said. “I was leading a group dance, and it was quite a magnificent performance, one that would shock Mohanlal and my friend Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. Even though it was created with a bit of satire in mind, I actually enjoyed watching it,” he added.

However, the politician highlighted how convincing artificial intelligence has become, recounting an encounter with a young child who mistook the AI video for reality.

“A five-year-old child came up to me and said, ‘Sir, your dancing was superb!’ The child genuinely believed I had danced like that in real life,” Satheesan shared. “People are using artificial intelligence to create things like this, and that is where the legal issues arise,” he further said.

The viral clip, which repurposed dance moves originally performed by actor Shamna Kasim, was eventually taken down by Meta following copyright and synthetic media guidelines, bringing the debate over AI regulation back into the spotlight.
