In an attempt to leverage advanced technology, digitisation the Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu, recently held a meeting with the global head of YouTube, Neel Mohan, and the Asia-Pacific head of Google, Sanjay Gupta and global VP of YouTube, Government Affairs, Leslie Miller. 

The meeting centred around the general idea of advancing the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance and the use of innovative Google solutions to enhance governance using AI. 

As for civil aviation, the minister stressed the need to use AI 
-    Streamline processes
-    Improve efficiency 
-    Foster transparency

Expressing optimism about the positive outcome of the meeting they further reiterated the importance of AI and how it can be a game-changer for India’s civil aviation sector. “By working together with tech giants like YouTube and Google, we can create a more efficient, informed, and innovative aviation sector that benefits all,” the minister said after the meeting. 

Interestingly, Naidu has sought YouTube’s partnership in spreading awareness and knowledge about the civil aviation sector in educating the common man about the latest developments in India’s aviation ecosystem. This will eventually build an informed and engaging passenger for one of the fastest-growing aviation sectors. 

As for Google, the minister urged upon collaboration opportunities for new aviation-based start-ups mushrooming in the country. The partnership will aim to support the startups to contribute to the overall growth and development of the aviation sector through newer and more advanced technological applications. 

The minister further went on to highlight the challenges faced by the aviation industry and sought Google’s expertise in developing innovative solutions for new and existing problems. 

The meeting ended on a positive note with mutual agreement to explore the above partnership opportunities and work towards implementing innovative solutions.
