While the core apps are expected to remain free, the new “Plus” tiers may introduce exclusive profile themes, Story controls, chat personalisation options and advanced audience insights

Meta, the parent company of Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, has reportedly started introducing new paid subscription plans that offer users access to additional features and customisation tools.
According to multiple reports, the company is rolling out premium “Plus” versions of its platforms in several countries, including India. The subscriptions are expected to provide optional enhancements for users who want extra controls and personalised features beyond what is available on the free versions of the apps.
Reports suggest that Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus have been priced at $3.99 per month, which is roughly ₹387, while WhatsApp Plus is expected to cost $2.99 per month, or around ₹290. However, Meta has not officially announced pricing details for the Indian market so far.
Core apps to remain free
The reported subscription plans are not expected to replace the existing free versions of the apps.
Instead, the paid tiers are designed to add premium features while keeping the standard services accessible to all users without charge.
The company is said to be focusing on improved personalisation, enhanced engagement tools and better user controls through the new plans.
Instagram Plus to offer more profile and story controls
Among the three platforms, Instagram Plus is expected to introduce several additional tools aimed at creators and regular users seeking more customisation options.
Paid subscribers may receive access to exclusive profile themes, fonts and styling tools that are not available to free users.
The subscription is also expected to include enhanced Story features and deeper insights into post performance.
Some of the reported features include extending Story visibility beyond the current 24-hour limit, highlighting one Story every week for increased reach, and the ability to search through Story viewers.
Users may also be allowed to post Stories directly into profile highlights without displaying them in the main Story feed.
Facebook Plus focuses on analytics and engagement
Facebook’s premium plan is reportedly centred around profile customisation and audience engagement tools.
Subscribers may gain access to additional profile design options, improved engagement features for posts and more detailed analytics related to audience activity and interactions.
The reported features are aimed at helping users better understand how their content performs on the platform.
WhatsApp plus may add new personalisation features
WhatsApp Plus is expected to focus on chat personalisation and organisation tools.
According to reports, paid users could get access to custom chat themes, animated stickers and personalised notification sounds or ringtones.
The subscription may also introduce improved chat management features, including support for pinning more conversations.
The updates are intended to make messaging more organised while giving users more ways to customise their chats.
No official confirmation yet
Although reports about the subscription plans have surfaced widely online, Meta has not yet issued an official statement confirming the rollout details or the final pricing structure for India.
It also remains unclear when the features will become available to users globally.
