Samsung mocked Apple's new iPhone 17 Air's thinness, referencing its own foldable phones

When Apple revealed its shiny new iPhone line-up at the “Awe Dropping” event on Tuesday, Samsung couldn’t resist taking a cheeky swipe. And as usual, the dig came in the form of a sly post on X
Samsung Mobile US reposted one of its own old tweets from 2022 that read, “Let us know it when it folds.” This time, they added: “#iCant believe this is still relevant.” The playful jab was aimed at Apple’s latest showstopper, the iPhone 17 Air.
What’s special about the iPhone 17 Air?
Apple called the iPhone 17 Air its “thinnest model yet” at just 5.6 millimetres, making it even slimmer than Samsung’s S25 Edge, which measures 5.8 mm.
Prices start at $999 (₹1,19,900 for the 256GB version, ₹1,39,900 for 512GB, and ₹1,59,900 for the 1TB variant), with sales beginning on September 19.
Running on the same A19 Pro processor as the iPhone 17 Pro, it also comes with Apple’s N1 networking chip and C1X modem. Buyers can pick from four colours like Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold and Sky Blue. Plus, it only supports eSIM. Apple executives hyped it up as offering “MacBook Pro levels of compute in an iPhone.”
Other iPhones
The standard iPhone 17 starts at ₹82,900 and comes with a 6.3-inch display with 120Hz ProMotion, a 24MP selfie camera, and fresh shades like Lavender and Mist Blue.
The iPhone 17 Pro, starting at ₹1,34,900, boasts an all-aluminium body, the A19 Pro chip and a horizontal camera bar. Meanwhile, the top-end iPhone 17 Pro Max (₹1,49,900) brings 8K video recording and a bigger battery to the table.
Apple also dropped the AirPods Pro 3, priced at $249. They feature twice the Active Noise Cancellation, live language translation and IP57 water resistance.
