The internet has something to say about almost everything celebrities do, and Salman Khan has a question for the trolls: why?

He took aim at online trolls during the latest Bigg Boss 20 episode, calling out the habit of hiding behind a screen to attack people over their looks. 

Although Salman did not mention Katrina Kaif by name, his remarks came days after the actor was trolled over her appearance following her first public outing after becoming a mother. His comments have since been widely viewed as a response to the trolling directed at Katrina.

Salman was addressing the controversy involving contestants ScoutOP and Arishfa Khan when the conversation turned towards online trolling. Earlier in the week, ScoutOP had asked his YouTube and gaming community to “finish her off” after his argument with Arishfa during a task.

Talking about the growing culture of attacking people from behind a screen, Salman questioned what motivates people to troll others over their appearance.

“You are making money by putting someone down. You are only showing your upbringing,” he said.

The actor also pointed out that celebrities are subjected to comments about everything from their weight and family to career setbacks and personal milestones.

‘Everyone puts on weight after pregnancy’

Without naming Katrina, Salman specifically spoke about women being targeted after pregnancy.

“Everyone puts on weight after becoming pregnant,” he said, adding that when a woman decides to return to films, she can work towards getting fit again.

His comments come shortly after Katrina was targeted online following her appearance with husband Vicky Kaushal at the Ambani family’s Ganpati celebrations in Mumbai. It was one of the couple’s first public appearances since the birth of their son, Vihaan, in November 2025.

How Katrina Kaif’s trolling started

Katrina’s appearance at the celebrations initially drew attention for her traditional look, but social media discussions soon shifted towards her body. Some users commented on her weight gain and fuller face, while others circulated comparisons between her recent appearance and older photographs.

Fans also pushed back against the comments, pointing out that Katrina had recently gone through pregnancy and that there was no reason for her postpartum body to be compared with her earlier appearance.

The trolling also prompted Khushbu Sundar to speak out in Katrina’s support. In a post on X, Khushbu questioned why women are expected to maintain the same appearance throughout their lives while men are rarely subjected to the same scrutiny over weight, ageing or changes in appearance.

She stressed that women should not have to explain their bodies or motherhood to strangers.

Salman also talks about his own trolling

Salman also brought up the criticism he faces over ageing. Referring to comments about his appearance, he said, “Budha hogya, of course 60 saal ka hogaya. You can’t be Maine Pyaar Kiya all the bloody time.”

He then questioned the larger culture of online criticism, asking, “What do you want to troll and why do you want to troll?”
