New Delhi: Apple on Tuesday confirmed that its next major global event will take place on 9 September at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Apple Park, California, with the tagline “Awe dropping”.

What to expect from the iPhone 17 series

The company is preparing to showcase its iPhone 17 line-up at the annual launch. Reports suggest that Apple will announce a regular model alongside two Pro versions, while replacing the Plus with a new slim variant called the iPhone 17 Air.

The iPhone 17 Air is said to feature a 6.6-inch display and a 5.5 mm thickness, making it 0.08 inches thinner than current-generation models.

Meanwhile, the base iPhone 17 is expected to introduce a larger 6.3-inch screen and upgrade to a 120Hz refresh rate, a notable change from the 60Hz displays of earlier versions.

Other devices on the radar

Apple is also expected to unveil updates to its smartwatch line, including the Apple Watch Series 11, Ultra 3, and SE 3. Among these, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is anticipated to bring the most significant improvements, with a larger display and faster charging support.

Additionally, the company may reveal the AirPods Pro 3, arriving three years after the previous Pro model.

The Verge reported that the event will also be an opportunity for Apple to share more about its Liquid Glass software revamp and the future of Apple Intelligence, which includes upcoming AI upgrades for Siri.

Apple expands retail presence in India

Ahead of the product showcase, Apple has also announced its first store in Pune, named Apple Koregaon Park, which will open on 4 September.

“This opening marks a significant expansion for Apple in the country, offering customers in Pune new ways to explore and buy Apple products, and experience Apple’s exceptional service in person,” the company said in a statement.

The launch comes shortly after Apple confirmed that Apple Hebbal will open in Bengaluru on 2 September.

The barricade for Apple Koregaon Park has been revealed with artwork inspired by the Peacock, India’s national bird. The vibrant design, according to Apple, “celebrates Apple’s third and fourth stores in India.”
