Want a free iPhone 17? There is a rather unusual condition to qualify.

Amritsar-based businessman and social media influencer Rakesh Trehan, popularly known as Raja D King, has announced an ‘iPhone Langar’ in Chandigarh, where selected people from Chandigarh and Mohali will receive iPhones for free. But those hoping to get one will have to follow a specific rule: they must write “Jai Mata Di” every day in a WhatsApp group created for the giveaway.

The first distribution is scheduled for September 22 and will be conducted publicly in the presence of the media. Trehan has said the initial group will have around 1,000 participants, from whom the recipients will be selected.

What is the eligibility for Raja D King’s iPhone langar?

According to Trehan, joining the WhatsApp group is not enough to qualify.

Participants must write “Jai Mata Di” once every day until they receive an iPhone. Trehan said the activity will be monitored and those who fail to follow the daily requirement will not be considered for the giveaway.

There is also a provision for those who miss a day. Trehan said a participant who forgets to write the phrase can make up for it by writing “Jai Mata Di” twice the following day.

The winners will be selected from those who meet the requirement and will be contacted by phone, according to Trehan.

Which iPhone will be given away?

The giveaway will start with iPhone 17 models, rather than iPhone 16.

Trehan said the original plan included iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 models, with newer models to follow. That plan was later changed, with the iPhone 16 being dropped from the giveaway.

He has said the selected winners will receive iPhone 17 models, subject to availability.

Trehan had earlier said he planned to distribute 100 iPhones in Chandigarh and 200 in Mohali. He has also claimed that he has already ordered 100 iPhone 17 units and discussed arrangements for distributing as many as 1,000 iPhones as the initiative expands.

Who can take part in the iPhone giveaway?

The first phase is aimed at residents of Chandigarh and Mohali.

Trehan has said the initiative will later be expanded to 10 more cities in Punjab, with the dates for those locations expected to be announced on September 22. He said participants in the additional cities would be given time to meet the eligibility requirements before the next distribution.

The September 22 event will be held live, with the public and media invited to witness the distribution.

From petrol langar to iPhone langar

The iPhone giveaway follows Trehan’s earlier ‘petrol langar’ initiative in Chandigarh, where he announced free fuel coupons for people.

He had said two-wheelers and three-wheelers would receive coupons worth Rs 500, while four-wheelers would receive Rs 1,000 coupons.

Trehan has also previously organised other giveaway-style community events, distribution of gold coins.
