Apple is reportedly in early discussions with Google to use its Gemini artificial intelligence model to power a redesigned version of Siri, according to a Bloomberg report.

The talks come as Apple looks to catch up with rivals like Google and Samsung, who have already integrated advanced generative AI into their devices. While Apple has developed in-house AI models, it has not yet decided whether to move forward with its own technology or partner with an external company.

If finalized, the deal could lead to a major overhaul of Siri, which has long lagged behind Alexa and Google Assistant in handling complex tasks and third-party app integration. The revamp, originally expected this year, was delayed due to engineering setbacks and is now planned for next year.

Apple has also reportedly explored AI tie-ups with OpenAI and Anthropic in the past.

Following the news, Alphabet’s stock rose 3.7%, while Apple shares went up 1.6%.

Neither Apple nor Google have commented on the report.
