London: The Premier League title race opened up dramatically on Saturday as Aston Villa scored a stoppage-time winner to beat Arsenal 2-1 at Villa Park. Emiliano Buendia netted the decisive goal in the fifth minute of added time, cutting Arsenal’s lead at the top to just two points.

Second-placed Manchester City moved closer to Arsenal with a 3-0 victory over Sunderland. Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol put City ahead at halftime, and Phil Foden added a third in the second half. Villa, meanwhile, climbed to third, just a point behind City, after a remarkable ninth win in ten games following a difficult start to the season.

Arsenal suffered their second league defeat of the season, ending an 18-game unbeaten run, and marking their third consecutive away game dropping points after draws with Sunderland and Chelsea. Leandro Trossard had briefly equalised for the Gunners before Villa’s late winner.

Liverpool’s troubled campaign continued as they dropped points in a 3-3 draw at Leeds. Despite holding a two-goal lead, they conceded twice in quick succession and were denied a win by Ao Tanaka’s stoppage-time equaliser. Mohamed Salah remained an unused substitute for the third consecutive game.

Chelsea’s title challenge stalled further as they were held to a 0-0 draw at Bournemouth, marking their third game without a win. Newcastle United earned a 2-1 victory over Burnley thanks to goals from Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon, despite a late penalty from Burnley’s Zian Flemming.

Tottenham Hotspur recorded their first home league win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Brentford, with goals from Richarlison and Xavi Simons ending a six-game home winless streak. Everton climbed to fifth place after defeating Nottingham Forest 3-0.

With Arsenal’s slip-up and Man City’s victory, the title race remains wide open, setting up a thrilling battle for the Premier League crown in the coming weeks.
