San Francisco: Ravichandran Ashwin is set to make history by becoming the first Indian cricketer to feature in Major League Cricket (MLC) after signing with the San Francisco Unicorns for the 2026 season.

He also ranks among the top wicket-takers in Test cricket history, underlining his enduring impact on the game.

Speaking on his signing, Ashwin said the rapid rise of Major League Cricket and its global appeal made the move compelling.
“The MLC has shown it can attract world-class talent while offering exposure to domestic players. Becoming the first Indian-capped player in this league is a responsibility I fully embrace,” he said, adding that his focus will be on helping the Unicorns secure their maiden title while delivering high-quality cricket for fans.
