Jaipur: Punjab Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash held in Jaipur on Monday, thereby confirming a top-two position in the playoff standings.

Josh Inglis, Priyansh Arya lead chase

Chasing a target of 185, Punjab Kings completed the job in 18.3 overs with nine balls to spare. Priyansh Arya hammered 62 off 35 balls, while Josh Inglis anchored the innings with a commanding 73 off 42 deliveries.

The duo’s aggressive strokeplay ensured that Punjab’s innings remained ahead of the required rate throughout, leaving little room for Mumbai’s bowlers to apply pressure.

Suryakumar anchors MI innings

Sent in to bat first, Mumbai Indians posted 184 for seven. Suryakumar Yadav was the standout performer with the bat, scoring 57 off 39 balls. He was well supported by Naman Dhir in the latter stages of the innings.

However, despite the strong finish — including 23 runs in Vijaykumar Vyshak’s final over — the total proved insufficient.

Balanced bowling from PBKS

Punjab’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Marco Jansen (2/34), Arshdeep Singh (2/28) and Vijaykumar Vyshak (2/44) picking up two wickets each. Despite being expensive in his last over, Vyshak's earlier strikes contributed to restricting MI’s momentum.

Santner picks two for Mumbai

Mitchell Santner returned figures of 2/41 for Mumbai Indians, but lacked sufficient support from the other end as Punjab’s top order dominated proceedings.
