KL Rahul produced a career-defining performance in the Indian Premier League, smashing an unbeaten 152 for Delhi Capitals against Punjab Kings in a high-scoring encounter that saw him enter the IPL record books.
Opening the innings, Rahul combined timing, control and calculated aggression to guide Delhi Capitals to a massive total, becoming the first Indian batter to cross the 150-run mark in IPL history. His knock also placed him among the top individual scorers in the tournament’s history, behind only a few landmark innings.

He later revealed that the extreme heat in Delhi took a physical toll on him, describing “mixed emotions” after the innings and admitting he felt drained. Despite his exhaustion, Rahul highlighted his satisfaction at contributing a match-defining performance and reaching a significant personal milestone.
The innings was further strengthened by a record partnership with Nitish Rana, as the duo put together one of the highest stands in IPL history, helping Delhi Capitals dominate the opposition bowling attack throughout the innings.
Rahul also credited his approach of relying on classical cricket shots and measured aggression, which allowed him to maintain pressure on the bowlers before accelerating towards the final overs. His performance earned him the Orange Cap, underlining his impact in the season.
