The thrilling World Cup encounter between Afghanistan and Bangladesh was filled with several head-scratching incidents which have left the cricketing world baffled. The major incident which is now being widely discussed on social media is Afghanistan cricketer Gulbadin Naib’s shock injury claim, which many believe was made as per the instructions of Afghan coach Jonathan Trott. With the video of the incident going viral, cheating allegations are being levelled against Naib, Trott, and the entire Afghan cricket team.

Afghan all-rounder was accused of 'faking' injury as he fell down while fielding in slips. Naib, at the moment, was seen holding his hamstring. The medical team was seen rushing to the ground and they carried the injured player out of the ground, leaving the Bangladeshi team fuming.

Commentators including the well-known Simon Doull expressed shock over the incident and condemned the act of the coach and the player, calling it "unacceptable".

Anyways, the incident has sparked a meme fest on the internet with cricket personalities like Ravichandran Ashwin and Michael Vaughan joining the banter.

Talking about the match, Afghanistan scripted a historic milestone in cricket by securing their first-ever T20 World Cup semifinal berth with a hard-fought eight-run victory over Bangladesh in a rain-interrupted Super 8 encounter. As a result, the mighty Aussies were knocked out of the tournament.

Led by the indomitable Rashid Khan, Afghanistan's triumph marked a significant achievement in their cricketing journey marred by adversity and challenges, including political turmoil and lack of home facilities.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Afghanistan struggled to 115/5 in their allotted 19 overs on a challenging pitch that saw Bangladesh bowlers dominate with 66 dot balls. Despite a sluggish start, opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz top-scored with 43 off 55 deliveries.

In response, Bangladesh faced a revised target of 114 due to rain interruptions. Afghanistan showcased their resilience and skill with the ball, spearheaded by Rashid Khan's exceptional spell of 4/23 and pacer Naveen-ul-Haq's 4/26. Their combined efforts restricted Bangladesh to 105 all out in 17.5 overs, ensuring a successful defence of their modest total.

Post the match, Rashid Khan expressed his gratitude to Lara, recalling their encounter at a welcome event where he assured the Windies legend that Afghanistan would not disappoint. Lara's pre-tournament prediction that Afghanistan could reach the semifinals seems to have resonated deeply with Rashid and his team, inspiring them to prove the cricketing icon right.

"Afghanistan, they are capable of getting into the (last) four," Lara had confidently stated, a foresight that fueled Rashid and his team with added determination.
