Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned music director and lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi claimed that individuals like him are stupid for producing Malayalam films. 

Speaking at the flag-raising ceremony of the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters- MBIFL, the veteran lyricist remarked that he was an idiot who produced 26 films and that people like him would perish funding films. 

"I have now stopped making films. Smart people like Sathyan Anthikad will direct films and make money. Idiots like me will perish by producing films. I don't have any money due to producing 24 films. The earnings from my book sales are my primary source of income,' he said.
