Thiruvananthapuram: Dhyan Sreenivasan, the younger son of Malayalam screenwriter and actor Sreenivasan, always seems to be in the spotlight wherever he goes. Being an "interview star" in today's social media parlance, the session 'Achannum Chettanum Idayil Eee Paavam Njan' was a crowd-puller, and as expected, Dhyan did not fail to entertain the audience with his usual banter against his father Sreenivasan.
Despite admitting that he is a reluctant actor and acknowledging that most of his films don't run to packed houses, Dhyan reveals that his true passion lies in becoming a technician.
Dhyan recounts the day he left home after a heated argument with his father, who, in an inebriated state, blamed him for not achieving success in life. "That day, upon reaching home, my dad was drunk. He attributed all my failures to me and harped on how much money he had spent on me. He told me, 'Put the money I had spent on you, and then you talk.'" It was then that Dhyan decided to leave home, citing his father's lack of resilience and tolerance.
Dhyan revealed that he hadn't seen Sreenivasan as an actor or writer at home much for about 15 years. He also reminisces about his connection with
Thiruvananthapuram, especially Kanakakunnu humorously says, "Kanakakunnu can make you laugh again."
Discussing his academic performance, Dhyan talks about his father's dissatisfaction, citing an incident where getting 89 percent in the tenth standard was deemed poor, in comparison to his brother Vineeth's 94 percent.
The actor also talked about a viral family interview from 20 years ago, where he confessed to having a crush on Navya Nair.
The MBIFL session was moderated by C Anoop, who conducted the original vernacular television interview. Dhyan jokingly acknowledges that after the video went viral, some said it could remove depression when watched but his mother ended up getting depressed.
Talking about the importance of money, he noted the shift from paying to watch movies to now receiving payment for movies. He also reveals that his mother, who has only seen Sreenivasan's movies, is oblivious to his own films, while his brother Vineet offers him career advice.
Dhyan also talks about the arrogance within many writers, including his father, stating, "Yes, he has it. My father lacks tolerance. Why can't he sit down with me and discuss things calmly? My father, Sreenivasan, has become a typical Malayali Dad," he adds.
Dhyan also said that he was not happy with his father's tirade against Mohanlal and said it was unwarranted.
