UAE residents are being advised to prepare for unstable weather conditions as rain-bearing clouds bring showers, gusty winds and reduced visibility across parts of the country, particularly in the eastern regions. Authorities have issued safety warnings for motorists and residents as weather conditions are expected to intensify through Wednesday.

According to forecasts from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), light to moderate rainfall is expected across several areas, with some locations likely to experience heavier downpours over June 24 and June 25. The Al Ain region is among the areas expected to receive the most rainfall, although weather conditions may fluctuate throughout the day.

Videos circulating on social media showed heavy showers sweeping through eastern mountainous areas, highlighting the changing weather pattern currently affecting the country.

Meteorologists have also warned of strong winds accompanying the rain clouds. These winds could raise dust and sand in open areas, leading to sudden drops in visibility and challenging driving conditions on highways and internal roads.

Authorities have urged motorists to remain alert, adhere to posted speed limits and follow traffic safety instructions, reported Khaleej Times. Drivers have also been reminded that speed limits displayed on electronic road signs may be adjusted during adverse weather events such as rain, dust storms or reduced visibility and these temporary limits must be observed.

Residents have been advised to stay away from wadis, valleys and low-lying areas that may be vulnerable to flash flooding during periods of intense rainfall. Such locations can become dangerous within a short period when heavy showers occur upstream.

Emergency authorities routinely issue warnings during unstable weather to prevent residents from entering flooded areas or attempting to cross waterlogged roads.

The latest weather activity coincides with the seasonal period known locally as 'Rawayeh', a phase that typically brings increased convective cloud formation over parts of the UAE.

This seasonal transition often results in scattered rainfall, occasional thunderstorms and slightly cooler temperatures, offering temporary relief from the intense summer heat before the peak of the season arrives.

Temperatures to ease before summer heat intensifies

While temperatures are expected to remain high across much of the country, the current spell of cloudy and rainy weather could lead to a modest drop in daytime temperatures in some areas.

Forecasters have indicated that temperatures may still rise above the 50°C mark on certain days later in the summer. However, prolonged periods of extreme heat are not currently expected as weather systems continue to influence conditions across the region.

Residents are encouraged to monitor official weather updates and follow safety advisories as the unstable weather pattern continues over the coming days.
