Indian nationals in the UAE will face a temporary suspension of passport, visa and attestation services for five days later this month as the Indian government shifts operations to a new outsourced service provider.

The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has announced that passport, visa and attestation services across the United Arab Emirates will be suspended from June 26 to June 30 due to a transition to a new service provider.

The temporary halt is part of the Indian government's move to streamline consular services in the UAE. During this period, routine appointments for passport renewals, visa applications and document attestation will not be available.

New service provider to take charge

The embassy said that Al Hind Tours and Travel LLC will officially take over the delivery of passport, visa and attestation services across the UAE from July 1, 2026.

As part of the transition, BLS International, which currently manages passport and visa services, and SGIVS Global, which handles attestation services, will stop accepting new applications after the close of business on June 25.

The move marks a significant change in how consular services for the large Indian community in the UAE will be managed going forward.

Emergency services to remain available

While regular services will be unavailable during the transition period, the Indian mission has assured citizens that emergency consular assistance will continue.

The Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India, Dubai will directly provide emergency passport, visa and attestation services between June 26 and June 30.

This arrangement is intended to ensure that urgent travel and documentation needs can still be addressed while the handover process is completed.

New online portal from July 1

The embassy also announced that a new online appointment portal will be launched on July 1, the same day the new service provider begins operations.

Indian citizens seeking appointments for passport, visa or attestation services after the transition will be required to use the updated platform.

Advisory for Indian nationals

Officials have advised Indian nationals living in the UAE to monitor updates only through official communication channels of the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai.

The advisory comes as hundreds of thousands of Indians regularly rely on consular services for passport renewals, visa-related matters and document authentication.

The temporary suspension is expected to affect routine applications for five days, after which services are scheduled to resume under the new provider from July 1.
