US President Donald Trump’s Oval Office press conference on Thursday, which focused on slashing the prices of weight-loss drugs following a new deal with pharma giants Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, took an unexpected turn when a company executive suddenly collapsed mid-event.

The incident occurred moments after Eli Lilly CEO Dave Ricks began his remarks. The man, standing beside President Trump’s desk, fell to the ground, prompting immediate concern from those present. Watch the video below:

Initial reports circulating across media platforms identified the individual as Novo Nordisk executive Gordon Findlay. However, the company swiftly clarified that Findlay was not at the event.

In a statement to Newsweek, Novo Nordisk confirmed, “Only CEO Mike Doustdar and EVP of US Operations Dave Moore were representing Novo Nordisk at the Oval Office today. We sincerely hope the gentleman who suffered a medical incident is recovering well.”

The live broadcast of the briefing was abruptly halted and temporarily canceled before resuming later in the afternoon.

According to officials, the executive was promptly attended to by Mehmet Oz, the newly appointed Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under the Trump administration. Oz later confirmed that the individual “was doing fine” after being examined.

A statement from the White House also addressed the episode:

“During the Oval Office announcement on the ‘Most Favored Nations’ pricing plan, one of the company representatives fainted. The White House Medical Unit responded immediately, and the individual is now okay.”

Once the briefing restarted, President Trump reassured reporters that the man had simply “got a little light-headed,” adding that he received medical attention and “is perfectly fine now.”

A video clip from the press room showing Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr walking away as the man fell has circulated widely online. Responding to the viral footage, White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai clarified on X (formerly Twitter):

“The Secretary went to summon medical assistance while others attended to the individual.”

Trump unveils new drug pricing plan

After the interruption, President Trump resumed his announcement, revealing that Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk had agreed to significantly reduce the prices of their leading GLP-1 weight-loss drugs under a new “Most Favored Nation” pricing framework.

“These companies are partnering with us to make sure Americans get these drugs at the best possible rates,” Trump declared. “Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk will offer Zepbound and Wegovy at ‘Most Favored Nation’ prices to U.S. patients.”

The initiative will reportedly make both drugs far more affordable through Medicare and TrumpRx, a soon-to-launch direct-to-consumer platform backed by the administration.

Under the new plan:

Ozempic and Wegovy prices will drop from roughly $1,000–$1,350 per month to $350 on TrumpRx (launching in January).

Medicare pricing for Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound will be set at $245 per month, with beneficiaries paying only $50 in co-pays.

“This is a major victory for American patients,” Trump said, calling the move a “revolution in fair drug pricing.”
