Nimisha Sajayan has opened up about the physical and emotional challenges that followed after she gained nearly 14 kg for her role in Babita Singh Reporting

For Nimisha Sajayan, playing Babita Singh in ‘Babita Singh Reporting’ involved more than stepping into the mindset of a police officer. The actor also underwent a major physical transformation for the role, gaining nearly 14 kg before taking on an equally demanding weight-loss journey.
Now, after completing that process, Nimisha has opened up about the physical and emotional challenges she faced along the way.
Sharing a series of photographs showing her transformation, Nimisha looked back at the period on Instagram and spoke about how difficult the journey became, particularly during the initial days.

Nimisha revealed that her weight went from 58 kg to 72 kg while preparing for the character. But returning to her earlier weight proved to be a completely different challenge.
“Gained almost 14 kgs for this character (58 kg to 72 kg). And honestly, the weight-loss journey that followed was a whole different story.”
She admitted that the first 10 days were especially difficult, with the process affecting both her body and her mood.
“The first 10 days were probably the toughest. No proper sleep, crazy mood swings, exhaustion, frustration, and so many moments when I genuinely felt like I couldn't do it. There were days when I would literally sit in front of my trainer and cry, saying, ‘I can't do this anymore.’”
‘You were my rock throughout this journey’
Nimisha also credited her trainer, Ali Shifas, for helping her stay on track when she felt like giving up.
“If it wasn't for you, I honestly think I would have given up. You were my rock throughout this entire journey. You pushed me when I needed that extra push, encouraged me when I wanted to give up, and patiently reminded me to trust the process.”
She said her trainer never made her feel guilty when she struggled or had a bad day.
“You never judged me for the bad days or made me feel guilty for struggling. You were simply there every single day. There were days when I was frustrated, tired and ready to quit. But somehow, you always found a way to make me show up the next day and try again.”
‘It wasn't just about losing weight’
Looking back, Nimisha said the experience taught her lessons that went beyond physical transformation. For her, patience and having the right support system became just as important as the eventual result.
“Looking back, I realise the journey wasn't just about losing weight. It was about patience, trusting the process and, most importantly, having the right person beside you. You made my struggle feel so much easier just by being there.”

She ended her note by thanking her trainer for continuing to believe in her even when she had doubts about herself.
“To my best trainer, my biggest cheerleader, my constant support system, thank you, Shifukka, for believing in me even on the days I stopped believing in myself. Couldn't have done this without you.”
