Israel targets Hamas, Islamic Jihad commanders in Gaza after ceasefire breach in Rafah.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Friday struck multiple targets across Gaza, reportedly killing several terrorists, including commanders from Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
The IDF said the operations were conducted in response to “the blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement earlier this week in western Rafah, in which armed terrorists fired at IDF troops.”
Operations in southern Lebanon
The Gaza operation follows recent IDF strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon. The military said it targeted weapon storage facilities and other sites linked to the group, describing the action as enforcement of ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon.
"STRUCK: Several Hezbollah weapon storage facilities and additional terror infrastructure throughout southern Lebanon. Prior to the strikes, steps were taken in order to mitigate possible harm to civilians. Hezbollah's activity at these sites constitutes a violation of the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon," the IDF wrote in its post.
Earlier on Sunday, the IDF said it also carried out strikes on multiple Hezbollah-linked military sites in the same region, targeting shafts allegedly used for storing weapons as tensions along the border continued to rise.
In a separate post on X, the IDF said the strikes hit locations where Hezbollah activity had been identified over recent months.
"STRUCK: Shafts used for storing weapons in several military sites belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, where in recent months, Hezbollah activity has been identified at these sites. Hezbollah's terror activity at these sites constitutes a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon," the Israeli military said in its post.
According to The Times of Israel, since the November 2024 ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, the IDF has killed around 400 operatives and struck hundreds of additional Hezbollah-linked targets. The military has repeatedly asserted that activity at the targeted sites breaches the understandings reached between the two countries.
The Lebanese government claimed last week that Hezbollah had been disarmed south of the Litani River. However, Israel has cast doubt on the assertion, The Times of Israel reported, citing continued Hezbollah activity in the area as justification for ongoing strikes.
