At least four people were killed in Israeli drone strikes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency, in the latest escalation along the volatile Israel-Lebanon border.

Two people died after a drone targeted a car in the Al-Wasita Al-Qasimiya area near the port city of Tyre. In a separate strike on Derikifa, two more fatalities were reported.

The identities of the victims were not immediately known, and there was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

The strikes come amid intensifying hostilities between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group

Israeli forces have expanded operations in southern Lebanon in recent weeks, saying the objective is to push Hezbollah fighters away from the border and curb cross-border rocket and drone attacks.

The Lebanon front is now increasingly tied to a wider regional conflict involving Iran and the United States.

On Tuesday, massive explosions were reported in Iran’s central city of Isfahan after strikes targeted a key military site, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing war.

According to multiple reports, bunker-buster bombs were used to hit an ammunition depot and strategic facilities in Isfahan, a city considered a crucial hub for Iran’s defence and nuclear infrastructure.

The strikes triggered large fireballs and secondary explosions, indicating the presence of stored missiles and explosives.

Isfahan holds particular strategic importance as it houses major military bases and is believed to contain significant uranium stockpiles linked to Iran’s nuclear programme.

The targeting of such a site signals a shift toward hitting deeper, fortified assets, raising fears of a prolonged and more destructive phase of the conflict.

The escalation has already had far-reaching consequences across the region. Iran has retaliated with missile and drone attacks, including strikes on shipping routes and targets in the Gulf, while tensions have spilled into multiple theatres, including Lebanon and Israel.

In Lebanon, continued Israeli strikes have led to mounting casualties and displacement, with civilians increasingly caught in the crossfire. Analysts warn that the growing overlap between the Lebanon front and the Iran conflict could trigger a broader regional war if hostilities continue to intensify.

With no signs of de-escalation, the situation remains highly volatile, as global powers call for restraint amid fears of a wider Middle East conflagration.
