New Delhi: The United States has invited India to join what President Donald Trump has termed the “Board of Peace,” a high-level body tasked with overseeing governance and reconstruction in postwar Gaza.

Pakistan has also reportedly received an invitation.

The White House outlined that the “Board of Peace” will have a main board chaired by Trump, a Palestinian committee of technocrats to manage the war-torn territory, and an “executive board” with advisory responsibilities.

“It is my Great Honor to invite you, as Prime Minister of the Republic of India, to join me in a critically historic and magnificent effort to solidify Peace in the Middle East and, at the same time, to embark on a bold new approach to resolving Global Conflict!...,” an extract of the letter issued by White House to the Indian PM reads.

The initiative is part of Trump’s broader Gaza roadmap. On Friday, the White House unveiled the members of the Board of Peace, responsible for implementing phase two of the 20-Point Peace Plan to end the Gaza conflict.

The list includes US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law. Other members include Apollo Global Management CEO Marc Rowan and US Deputy National Security Adviser Robert Gabriel.

Explaining the roles, the White House said, “Executive Board members will oversee defined portfolios critical to Gaza's stabilisation and long-term success, including, but not limited to, governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction, investment attraction, large-scale funding, and capital mobilisation.”

Trump, as Chairman of the Board of Peace, has appointed Aryeh Lightstone and Josh Gruenbaum as senior advisors to lead day-to-day strategy and operations, translating the Board’s mandate and diplomatic priorities into disciplined execution.

Nickolay Mladenov, an Executive Board member, will serve as High Representative for Gaza and act as the on-the-ground link between the Board of Peace and the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).

Describing the NCAG as a crucial part of phase two, the White House said, “It is a vital step forward in implementing Phase Two of his Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict -- a 20-point roadmap for lasting peace, stability, reconstruction, and prosperity in the region.”

The NCAG will be led by Ali Sha’ath, a respected technocratic leader who will “oversee the restoration of core public services, the rebuilding of civil institutions, and the stabilisation of daily life in Gaza, while laying the foundation for long-term, self-sustaining governance.”

The White House also detailed security arrangements to ensure stability. Major General Jasper Jeffers has been appointed Commander of the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) to “lead security operations, support comprehensive demilitarisation, and enable the safe delivery of humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials.”
