External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discusses trade and strategic cooperation with President Putin during Moscow visit.

Moscow: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met on Thursday with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, with discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties.
Earlier in the day, Jaishankar conducted extensive talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The conversation primarily centred on expanding trade relations between India and Russia.
At a joint media briefing alongside Lavrov, Jaishankar said, “We believe that relations between India and Russia have been among the steadiest of the major relationships in the world after the Second World War.” He further emphasised, “Geo‑political convergence, leadership contacts and popular sentiment remain its key drivers.”
Jaishankar had arrived in Moscow on Tuesday in preparation for President Putin’s anticipated visit to India, which is expected to take place in November or December.
