Muscat/Dubai: Drones targeted Duqm Port in Oman on Sunday, injuring one worker, according to the Oman News Agency (ONA). The incident marks the first reported attack on Oman since Iran began retaliatory strikes across the Gulf following US and Israeli operations.
A security source said two drones were involved. One struck a mobile worker’s accommodation, injuring a worker who received medical treatment. Debris from the second drone landed near fuel tanks at the commercial port, with no additional casualties or material damage reported.
Blasts heard across Dubai, Doha and Manama
On Sunday morning, explosions were heard in Dubai, Doha, and Manama as Iran carried out further attacks across the region. Witnesses reported waves of blasts, and thick black smoke was seen rising in parts of southern Doha and from Jebel Ali Port in Dubai after debris from intercepted drones reportedly sparked a fire overnight.
Authorities in Dubai said two people were injured when falling debris from intercepted drones struck residential areas. In Bahrain’s capital Manama, drones hit near the airport, causing minor damage.
UAE and Qatar report casualties
The escalation follows deadly strikes a day earlier. In Abu Dhabi, one civilian was killed amid incidents linked to missile and drone activity, officials said. Across the UAE, the defence ministry reported that Iran launched 137 missiles and 209 drones, with some targeting military bases and critical infrastructure.
In Qatar, which hosts the largest U.S. military base in the region, officials said 65 missiles and 12 drones were launched toward the country. Most were intercepted, but eight people were injured, including one in critical condition.
