The Delta Airlines flight carrying 80 people, including 76 passengers and 4 crew members, crashed and flipped at Toronto Pearson Airport on Monday afternoon. Dramatic audio from the air traffic control tower reveals the moment when an official sombrely declared, "This airplane just crashed."

The Mitsubishi CRJ-900LR, which was arriving at the airport around 3:30 PM, overturned on the snowy tarmac, landing upside down. Despite the severity of the crash, authorities confirmed that there were no fatalities, and the majority of passengers walked away with minor or no injuries.

A Medevac helicopter flying above captured footage of the scene, revealing the plane "upside down and burning" as survivors fled across the runway. Emergency crews immediately responded to the crash site, and all passengers and crew were accounted for.

Authorities have confirmed that at the time of the crash, there were "no crosswinds" and the runway was "dry." Investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the crash, which occurred in the midst of a heavy snowstorm.

Injuries, medical response

Of the 18 passengers treated for injuries, one child was transported to Toronto’s SickKids Hospital with critical injuries. Two adults with serious injuries were also taken to other nearby hospitals. Despite the terrifying crash, no fatalities have been reported.

Delta Airlines has expressed their full support for those affected by the incident, stating they are focusing on assisting passengers and crew members during this difficult time. Emergency teams continue to work at the scene as investigations continue.
