A 35-year-old Indian expat woman from Kerala and her five-year-old daughter were found dead outside a residential tower in Sharjah’s Al Nahda area. According to eyewitness accounts and building staff, the woman allegedly threw her daughter from the balcony of their apartment before jumping to her death on Wednesday morning.

The incident reportedly took place around 7.15am at a high-rise residential building near Sahara Centre in Sharjah. The woman, a native of Azhikode in Kannur district, had been living in the UAE with her husband for several years and was reportedly running an online business.

According to Gulf News, citing eyewitnesses and building security staff, the woman first pushed the child from the balcony of their 15th-floor apartment and then jumped herself. Since the tower has multiple parking levels and an additional gym floor, the victims fell from a height equivalent to around 22 floors.

The building’s security guard said he heard a loud sound and rushed outside, where he found the child lying on the road and the mother on the pavement below the 32-storey tower. Police and ambulance teams were immediately alerted, and authorities cordoned off the area for several hours.

Neighbours told local media that Sharjah Police had visited the apartment building a day earlier following a reported family dispute. The woman’s husband, who works as an aircraft resource allocation officer in Dubai, has reportedly been taken in for questioning as part of the investigation.

The security guard also claimed that the husband had earlier mentioned that his wife had been suffering from mental health issues. However, officials have not released any detailed statement regarding the circumstances leading to the deaths.

Sharjah Police confirmed that the case was registered as a suicide case. Further investigation is under way.
