The price of 24-karat gold in Chennai stood at ₹14,619 per gram, while 22-karat and 18-karat gold were priced at ₹13,401 and ₹11,161 per gram, respectively.
Gold prices in India remained broadly steady on Friday, with 24-karat gold retailing at ₹14,379 per gram in most major cities, while silver was priced at ₹245.10 per gram, reflecting prevailing domestic market trends.
Among the major metropolitan centres, Chennai continued to record higher bullion prices than most other cities. The price of 24-karat gold in the city stood at ₹14,619 per gram, while 22-karat and 18-karat gold were priced at ₹13,401 and ₹11,161 per gram, respectively.
In Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kerala and Pune, 24-karat gold was available at ₹14,379 per gram, with 22-karat gold at ₹13,181 and 18-karat gold at ₹10,785 per gram.
Delhi recorded a marginally higher rate, with 24-karat gold priced at ₹14,394 per gram, 22-karat at ₹13,196 per gram and 18-karat at ₹10,800 per gram. Meanwhile, gold prices in Ahmedabad and Vadodara stood at ₹14,384 per gram for 24-karat, ₹13,186 for 22-karat and ₹10,790 for 18-karat.
Silver prices also remained largely unchanged across the country. The metal was quoted at ₹245.10 per gram, or ₹2,45,100 per kilogram, in most cities. However, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala continued to trade at a premium, with silver priced at ₹250.10 per gram and ₹2,50,100 per kilogram.
Bullion prices in India are influenced by a combination of international precious metal prices, movements in the rupee against the US dollar, import duties and local demand, particularly from the jewellery sector.
