Gold and silver prices in India witnessed slight movements on Friday, 5 June 2026, as investors remained focused on global economic signals and ongoing geopolitical tensions.

According to market experts, precious metal prices continue to be influenced by fluctuations in the US dollar and concerns surrounding developments in West Asia. These factors have helped sustain gold's status as a preferred safe-haven investment amid uncertainty.

Investor and consumer advice

Although these rates provide a useful reference point, actual prices may differ across cities due to local taxes and variations in jewellers' pricing policies. Consumers should also factor in making charges and Goods and Services Tax (GST), which can significantly increase the final cost of jewellery purchases.

Factors influencing gold and silver rate today

Precious metals came under pressure in global markets as a sharp escalation in tensions across the Middle East triggered a rise in crude oil prices. Higher energy costs have strengthened expectations that major central banks could keep interest rates elevated for longer in an effort to contain inflation.

At the same time, modest gains in the US dollar index and Treasury yields weighed on gold, which does not offer any interest income, limiting its appeal to investors.

Regional tensions intensified after Iran launched a series of ballistic missiles and drones towards targets in Bahrain and Kuwait, as well as commercial vessels operating in nearby waters. The US military said the projectiles were intercepted before reaching their targets. In response, American forces carried out what the Pentagon described as “self-defence strikes” against military facilities on Iran’s Qeshm Island.

Following the exchange, market observers noted that gold is close to surrendering much of its gains for the year. Ongoing uncertainty over the prospects of a lasting peace agreement in the region has continued to weigh on sentiment, restricting any significant rebound in precious metal prices.
