Silver prices in India

Silver continued to trade uniformly across major markets, with one kilogram priced at about ₹2,84,900 in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. On a per-gram basis, silver averaged around ₹284.90 nationwide.

Commodity experts noted that silver remains more reactive to global sentiment, with movements in the rupee often magnifying domestic price swings.

Factors influencing the market

Traders pointed to several influences shaping the latest movements in precious metals:

  • Ongoing geopolitical uncertainties keeping safe-haven buying intact
  • Sharp day-to-day changes in the rupee affecting the landed cost of imported gold
  • Seasonal demand ahead of weddings and festivals lending support
  • Market expectations surrounding inflation and any potential policy cues from the Reserve Bank of India

Advice for buyers and investors

Specialists advised buyers to stay alert to volatility and insist on BIS-hallmarked products. Comparing quotes between jewellers and ensuring invoices list purity, weight and all applicable charges were recommended.

For investors making larger allocations, analysts said tracking price trends daily remains crucial, given the current sensitivity of global markets and currency movements.
