Precious metals in India held steady at elevated levels on Tuesday, 1st September. The benchmark price for 24-karat gold (99.9% purity) opened at ₹15,676 per gram, whilst 22-karat gold (91.6% purity) and 18-karat gold (75% purity) stood at ₹14,369 per gram and ₹11,757 per gram respectively.

Domestic bullion prices continue to reflect global macroeconomic pressures, geopolitical uncertainties, and central bank buying. Investors across urban and rural markets continue to favour gold as a reliable hedge against inflationary risks. Minor regional price variances persist across major cities due to local transportation tariffs and state-level taxation structures. Delhi recorded slightly higher figures across all purities, whilst southern hubs such as Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad remained aligned with standard market rates.

Simultaneously, industrial demand and retail buying kept silver prices firm. National silver rates registered at ₹254.90 per gram, equating to ₹2,54,900 per kilogram. Whilst western and northern cities maintained the base price of ₹2,54,900 per kilogram, southern markets, including Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kerala, quoted a slight premium at ₹2,59,900 per kilogram due to increased freight costs and localized demand dynamics.
