During an educational event inauguration at a school in Ernakulam on July 21, Shamseer made remarks implying that the Indian government is promoting myths as scientific discoveries.

"Education should promote science, as scientific discoveries provide solutions to various issues. However, they are trying to replace scientific facts with myths in textbooks. What are they trying to teach? Who invented aeroplanes? As per my knowledge it is the Wright brothers. Now they say that this is wrong. First aeroplane in the world is the ‘Pushpakavimana’, according to them. When science and technology are developing, they are replacing it with myths, including in textbooks. It is in this context that the answer to the question of who invented aeroplanes changes from the Wright brothers to Hindutva period… Some people who face difficulties in conceiving children nowadays go for IVF treatment. Sometimes this treatment leads to multiple pregnancies, which is quite common. They say that this too existed earlier, and that is how the Kauravas were born… Plastic surgery is a new innovation in medical science. What they are trying to teach here is that plastic surgery began in the Hindutva period. According to them, the first example of plastic surgery is Ganapathi (Lord Ganesha), with the head of an elephant and the body of a human,” Shamseer said.

These statements led to protests in the state as some organisations, including BJP, Sangh Parivar, and Nair Service Society, criticised him for hurting religious sentiments. Shamseer has defended his comments, asserting that he was merely highlighting the need for scientific temper in education, as mandated by the Indian Constitution.
