Sulthan Bathery: NP Kunjumol who was elected as the secretary of Meenangadi area committee, has become the first elected woman area secretary of CPM in the state. Ambalavayal Athichal native Kunjumol, 54, was unanimously elected as the secretary when the Meenangadi area committee was formed after splitting Bathery area committee in Wayanad.
Four years back, G Rajamma was entrusted with the temporary charge of secretary at Charummoodu area committee in Alappuzha. However Kunjumol is the first woman who was elected at a party conference.
Kunjumol was former district secretary of Democratic Women’s Association and is the current state committee member of the same. She was a district panchayat member in Wayanad. She contested the election to the district panchayat from Thomattuchal division, but was defeated. She had participated in many protests and was imprisoned too. Kunjumol is the first woman president of Ambalavayal service cooperative bank.
Kunjumol's husband is Mattathil Pailikunj and children are Sajon and Saivaja. Sajon was a former SFI district president.
