Kalpetta: A man from Kerala’s Wayanad who embraced everyone with love throughout his life continued that compassion even in death. On Saturday, NJ Vipin (41), of Puthoor Vayal, passed away following a stroke. In his final act of generosity, he donated his eyes, liver, heart, and kidneys.

Vipin, the proprietor of White House Traders in Kalpetta, had been admitted to Dr Moopen’s Medical College Hospital in Meppadi last Tuesday after suffering from high blood pressure and related complications. He was later transferred to Kozhikode’s Meitra Hospital, where he died in the intensive care unit on Saturday evening.

His body was laid to rest at de Paul Forane Church cemetery in Kalpetta on Sunday evening. A man who touched countless lives, his passing brought the entire town together for the funeral.

Despite the immense grief of his sudden passing, Vipin’s mother, Anees Malana, and his wife, Veena, stood firm in honouring his wish for organ donation.

Vipin’s eyes, liver, heart, and kidneys were handed over to the Kerala government’s Mrithasanjeevani organ donation programme, ensuring his compassion lives on. One kidney was transplanted to a patient at Meitra Hospital, Calicut, and the other to a patient at Aster MIMS Hospital. His heart and liver were donated to patients at MIMS, while his corneas were given to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

Vipin had always valued organ donation deeply, seeing it as a noble act. His final gift has left his loved ones with a lasting memory of his kindness.

His father, ND Joy, owner of Kolavayal Traders in Kalpetta, had passed away on October 17 from a heart attack. Vipin’s untimely death came before the family could recover from that earlier loss.

He leaves behind his wife and three children—Nidhaan, Nidhaaniya, and baby Nidhiya, with the youngest being just three months old.
