The Kerala High Court will hear a PIL seeking measures to prevent exploitation in organ donation, highlighting the inaction of the advisory committee.

Kochi: The Kerala High Court will on Wednesday again hear a public interest litigation filed by the son of a Thrissur native who died of kidney disease, seeking a systematic and proper system to prevent the exploitation of organ donors and recipients.
The petitioner's lawyer told the court that the advisory committee set up to draft new organ donation guidelines has not convened a single meeting, despite being formed a year ago. The government's position on the matter is expected to be clarified during Wednesday's proceedings.
Earlier, the court had asked for details about the committee’s members, its functioning, and the timeline for framing the guidelines. However, the petitioner stated that, despite being appointed for a two-year term, the committee has so far been 'lethargic'.
