Following a surgery that lasted several hours, Arun’s organs were transplanted into 10 recipients. Details of the recipients will be shared with the family at a later stage

Kundara: A 24-year-old engineer from Kerala, who suffered critical injuries in a motorcycle accident at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu, has passed away. His decision to donate organs after being declared brain dead has helped save or improve the lives of 10 people.
H. Arun (24), son of Harikumar and Sreelatha of Mamood Gokulathil, was working as a mechanical engineer at a private company in Sriperumbudur. The accident occurred around 11.30 p.m. on Wednesday while he was returning to his accommodation after work. He met with the accident on the Thandalam–Lushale Cut Road.
After doctors at Apollo Hospital, Chennai, confirmed brain death, Arun’s parents consented to donate his organs. Through the donation, 10 people received a new lease of life. His two kidneys, two eyes, heart valves, liver, lungs, intestine, and skin were donated.
Arun had completed diploma in Mechanical Engineering from SN Polytechnic College, Kottiyam, and secured employment through campus placement. After leaving his first company, he joined HL Clemov India Private Limited, manufacturer of automobile spare parts in Sriperumbudur.
On the night of the accident, Arun was travelling on a friend’s motorcycle when the mishap occurred. Colleagues travelling behind in a company bus found him injured on the roadside, just 200 metres from his residence.
By the time an ambulance arrived, Arun had reportedly been lying on the road with a severe head injury for about 15 minutes. He was initially taken to a nearby private medical college hospital by co-workers. His family, who reached the hospital on Thursday evening, later shifted him to Apollo Hospital in Chennai.
Despite treatment, doctors declared him brain dead on Saturday. He was then transferred on ventilator support to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai, where preparations for organ donation began after obtaining the family's consent.
Following a surgery that lasted several hours, Arun’s organs were transplanted into 10 recipients. Details of the recipients will be shared with the family at a later stage.
Arun’s father, Harikumar, is an electrician. He is survived by his brother Akhil, who works in Dubai.
The funeral will be held at the family residence in Mamood at 10 a.m. on Monday.
