Wayanad: Actor Mohanlal has announced a donation of Rs 3 crore for relief efforts in the aftermath of the devastating landslides in Wayanad. The contribution will be made through the ViswaSanthi Foundation, which Mohanlal established in honor of his parents. In addition to the financial aid, Mohanlal pledged to rebuild Mundakkai LP School, which was destroyed in the landslide.
In a statement, Mohanlal expressed his deep connection to the area, recounting his personal ties and the profound impact of the disaster. “The recent events have been heartbreaking. Many people have lost loved ones, homes, and land. The rescue efforts by the army, police, relief workers, voluntary organizations, and health workers are commendable. The Madras battalion to which I belong is part of the relief work here. The scale of the disaster is evident from the aerial view, making it one of the worst calamities India has faced. While nothing can replace what has been lost, the ViswaSanthi Foundation is committed to providing Rs 3 crore to support the relief work,” Mohanlal said.
Director Major Ravi, an office-bearer of the ViswaSanthi Foundation, confirmed that the foundation will oversee the rebuilding of Mundakkai LP School.
