When two vehicles travelling in the opposite direction collide, the impact of the accident will be the sum of speed of both the vehicles. If the bus and the truck travelled at 80 kmph each, the total impact will be 160 kmph.
The impact due to the collision of two vehicles travelling at 50 kmph will be equal to a person falling down from a 3- storeyed building. The bus and the container were moving at similar speeds. And so the impact of collision on the passengers will be equal to falling off from a 10th floor of a building.
- Accident occurred on 6- lane NH 544
- There was a turning near Avinashi overbridge
- Container lorry travelled over the divider around 100 metres and crossed to the other side of the road.
- The KSRTC bus was coming from opposite direction.
- It is assumed that the lorry plied so fast that the bus could not move to any other side
- There weren’t any cameras on the road.
