Tiruppur: Driver Hemaraj, 38, of the container lorry that met with the accident at Avinashi on the Coimbatore-Salem highway, is under remand at the Coimbatore jail. Hemaraj, hailing from Ottapalam, surrendered before the police station on Thurdsay itself when the deadly accident took place early morning.

Tiruppur assistant commissioner Vetriventhan recorded the arrest of Hemaraj and produced him before the Tiruppur district jail.  He was charged for culpable homicide. Tiruppur assistant commissioner said that the driver could have slept off or would have been careless while driving which had caused the accident.
