Coimbatore: Police have filed a case against lorry driver Hemaraj for culpable homicide in the Coimbatore bus accident case. Hemaraj drove the container lorry that was responsible for the accident that took 19 lives. Hemaraj is a native of Palakkad. His license will be cancelled.
The motor vehicle departments of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have dismissed the argument that the accident occurred due to the explosion of tyres. The traffic enforcement departments of both the states visited the accident spot on Thursday itself. Their primary inference is that the driver may have dozed off behind the wheels.
Hemaraj was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon. He was then taken to the district police chief’s office by Tirippur police. Hemaraj is still being interrogated there.
