Ottapalam, Kerala: The process for paying fines for vehicle violations has now been simplified. Vehicle owners no longer need to provide their mobile number or OTP to pay fines. Instead, fines can now be paid directly by entering the vehicle details on the Parivahan website, managed by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Previously, vehicle owners had to enter their mobile number in the e-challan to complete the fine payment. This was especially challenging for individuals who had purchased second-hand vehicles and had not updated the vehicle's ownership or mobile number in the records. In such cases, the OTP was sent to the previous owner's number, causing delays and confusion.
