Thiruvananthapuram: Two individuals have been apprehended on charges of cheating during an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) examination. The arrestees are Sumit Kumar and Sunil, hailing from Haryana.

They allegedly captured images of the question paper using a mobile phone and sent them to yet to be identified persons. They received answers through an earpiece which was not visible to the invigilators. Initially, their deceit went unnoticed. However, a police tip-off indicating possible cheating during the exam prompted officials to investigate, leading to the apprehension of both accused.

It is learnt that there was no frisking to prevent cheating prior to the examination. Police say that the accused were aware of this situation and chose this exam purposefully to commit fraud.

Sunil was apprehended from Cotton Hill, while Sumit Kumar was apprehended from St Mary's Higher Secondary School, Pattom during the examination for recruitment of technical staff for Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, a test that required a plus two qualification. The planning for this act originated in Haryana, says police.
