Alappuzha: Two individuals undergoing treatment after a road accident involving nursing students in Kalarcode are in critical condition, informed Health Minister Veena George on Tuesday.
The minister assured that all possible measures are being taken for their treatment, and the medical board is meeting separately to monitor their progress.
"Every effort is being made to save the lives of those receiving treatment. Three of the victims are on ventilators. One of them has undergone brain surgery, and another has multiple fractures. Eleven people were involved in the accident, and five of them died before reaching the hospital. One person has no major injuries but is yet to recover from the trauma," she added.
On Tuesday, at noon, the bodies of five students were placed for public homage at the TD Medical College. The victims were first-year MBBS students of TD Medical College, Alappuzha.
Five medical students were killed after the car they were travelling with collided with a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus in the Alappuzha district of Kerala.
The accident happened on the National Highway at Kalarkode, Alappuzha at around 10 pm on Monday.
The deceased students have been identified as Mohammed Ibrahim, hailing from Lakshadweep, Sreedeep from Palakkad, Ayush Shaji from Alappuzha, Devanand from Malappuram, and Mohammed Jabbar from Kannur.
