Alappuzha: One more medical student has tragically lost his life in the Kalarcode road accident. Alvin George (20), a first-year MBBS student at Alappuzha Medical College, succumbed to severe injuries while being treated in a private hospital in Kochi. 

Alvin, a native of Edathwa, sustained multiple injuries to his skull, lungs, kidneys, left rib and knee, and had been receiving treatment at Alappuzha Medical College under polytrauma care. He was later transferred to a private hospital in Kochi.  

With Alvin's passing, the death toll from the accident has risen to six. Five students died on the same day of the accident, and currently, four others are undergoing treatment. The injured include Krishnadev from Cherthala, Anand Manu from Kollam, Gaurishankar from Ernakulam and Muhassin Mohammed from Chavara, Kollam. Anand Manu has suffered fractures to his ribs and head injuries. Krishnadev underwent brain surgery late Monday night. Shain from Puthukkudiyiruppu, who was with them, miraculously escaped unharmed.

The accident also claimed the lives of Ayush Shaji (19) from Poonjar in Kottayam, Srideep Valsan (19) from Palakkad, B Devananthan (19) from Malappuram, Mohammed Abdul Jabbar (19) from Kannur and Mohammed Ibrahim (19) from Lakshadweep. This heartbreaking tragedy has left the entire state in mourning, with the loss of so many young lives full of promise.
