Alappuzha: In the tragic accident at Kalarcode, where a car collided with a KSRTC bus, resulting in the deaths of six medical students, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) has registered a case against the car's owner Shameel Khan.
The action was taken after the department found that the vehicle had been unlawfully rented out to the medical students. A detailed report on the incident will be submitted to the court for prosecution procedures.
Initially, the car owner claimed that he had lent the vehicle to the students on account of their acquaintance while having payasam together. However, the MVD dismissed this explanation as unconvincing. The RC book of the car will be cancelled, and preliminary proceedings against the owner are underway. The investigation is being led by the Ambalappuzha Enforcement RTO.
The car involved in the accident, rented by the students for a cinema outing, tragically claimed the lives of six medical students from Alappuzha Medical College. The deceased were identified as Sreedeep from Palakkad, Muhammad Ibrahim from Lakshadweep, Muhammad Jabbar from Kannur, Ayush Shaji from Alappuzha, Devanand from Malappuram and Alvin George from Edathua in Alappuzha.
