Thiruvananthapuram: The inquiry into allegations of missing surgical instruments at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College has been completed, with the report due to be submitted on Monday, officials said.

Whistleblower Dr Haris Chirakkal, who raised the issues, told the media on Saturday that there would be no further controversy over the matter, adding that Health Minister Veena George may have been misled about the complaint.

“The state government has always stood by us. The Health Minister is someone whom I always look up to. It is possible someone may have misled the minister about the complaint that the instruments are missing. The investigation has been completed, and its report will be submitted on Monday. No one is being blamed for not identifying the bills and instruments; such things can happen,” Haris said.

He added that the complaints he had raised earlier did not initially reach the government level, but that they are now being addressed “one by one.”

Haris said anyone could enter his office, and there was “nothing unusual” about it. He is expected to return to work soon, as his five-day leave has ended.
