Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: A sexual assault complaint has been lodged against a former Superintendent of Government Medical College here, police said on Friday.

According to the complaint, the accused sexually assaulted a woman hailing from the state capital at a hotel in 2023. Based on her complaint, the Medical College Police have registered a case.

The allegation has been raised against Dr Sunil Kumar, who is also the head of the Neurology Department. According to the complainant, who works abroad, he took her to places including the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College and Kovalam and assaulted her.

Dr Sunil Kumar, who is currently on leave, is being questioned by the Medical College Police in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, the doctor has denied the allegations and claimed that the woman had threatened to file a case against him and had collected lakhs of rupees from him on several occasions.
