Vadakara: When he heard that the survivors of the Wayanad landslides staying in the camps in that district urgently need clothes, Karim Nadakkal, a textile shop owner hailing from Puthuppanam here, did not think twice. Karim and his son Muhammad Kalaf left for Wayanad with all the ready-made clothes in his textile shop. He also bought extra clothes from outside, thinking those from his shop would be inadequate.

Karim, also Vadakara Block Congress general secretary, owns a textile shop named ‘Safu’ at Palayad Nada in Puthan Nata. Almost entire stock of garments here was taken to Wayanad. Most of them are maxi, parda, underwear, lungi, mundu, jeans, dress, shirt and towels. Bed sheets, blankets and mats were bought from outside.

All these were handed over to the relief camp authorities on reaching Meppadi.

Meanwhile, Latif Kallarakkal, a native of Vadakara and Congress Block vice president, has also donated clothes to Wayanad in the past two days from his 'Eva Junior Jersey', which functions at Koyilandi and Vadakara.
