Thodupuzha: Around 15 students from the Co-operative School of Law here on Tuesday afternoon staged a protest atop their college, threatening to die by suicide. The demonstration stems from dissatisfaction with the college's allocation of marks to a particular student and the subsequent threat of suspension when a section of students raised concerns.
The students accused the principal of favouritism and appealed for the person's resignation. They alleged that those who protested were suspended after framing them in a fake ragging case. Due to this, the affected students threatened to die by suicide and climbed on top of the college building.
The students initially refused to come down until a government minister or university representative intervened to address their grievances. Magistrate had visited the spot. The fire brigade positioned a safety net in anticipation of any potential leaps.
The students revoked the threat only after they received word of confirmation from the management that their suspension had been withdrawn. However, the protest has been continuing.
