Neeleswaram (Kasaragod): In a bizarre incident, a young man climbed onto his neighbour’s rooftop with a machete and threatened to commit suicide. He was brought down safely by the police, fire force, and local residents.
The incident took place around 1:30 pm on Sunday when a man named Sreedharan used a ladder to climb onto the roof of his neighbour Lakshmi’s house. Once there, he brandished a machete and issued threats.
Upon receiving the information, Neeleswaram Sub-Inspector K.V. Pradeep and his team rushed to the spot and attempted to bring Sreedharan down, but he refused to cooperate. Sreedharan’s main demand was to eat beef and porotta. Despite efforts by locals and police to procure the items, being a Sunday, they were unable to find them. The Fireforce too reached the spot.
Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector KV Pradeep, along with Civil Police Officers Rajeevan Kankol, Sajil Kumar, and Home Guard Gopinathan, climbed onto the roof with the help of local residents and brought Sreedharan down safely. According to locals, Sreedharan, who showed signs of mental distress, has made multiple suicide threats in the past.
